The Alpha collections
Ut pictura musica (159 cd's published)
A new approach

This collection is open to every type of repertoire, work and interpretation that is likely to show music in a new light, and catch the listener's attention by an approach that is innovative, clear and direct, based on thorough musical and musicological research.

« Ut pictura musica » : music is painting; painting is music. That is the motto of this series, which has the originality of drawing parallels between music and art, through a text by the art historian Denis Grenier.

Written and oral musical traditions

This collection is devoted to the relationships that exist between written and oral musical traditions, and emphasis is laid on research and serious musicological groundwork, often lacking in the field of traditional music. With this series, Alpha undertakes a serious exploration of the earliest artistic practices, with the aim of getting back to the sources of more recent expressions.
