Klaus Huber
Complete Cello Works
Alexis Descharmes

Klaus Huber occupies a thoroughly singular place in contemporary musical creation. Far removed from trends and fashions, the composer cuts a path, which leads him to always probe, ever more deeply, the ‘ethical’ dimension of music. His oeuvre reveals a terribly human musician, full of compassion for his fellow man, and this is magnificently attested to by the interpretations that Alexis Descharmes gives us here. Alexis Descharmes met the composer 12 years ago, when the decision was made to record his complete works for cello. This disc thus constitutes an exceptional testimony: both that of an unusual compositional career, the progression of one of the greatest composers of the 20th century still alive and who will have had a major influence on several generations of creators, and that of a special musical encounter between the composer and one the most sought-after cellists on the contemporary music scene.
