The ancient myth of prophets inspired by Apollo comes back to life, transfigured by the Renaissance that saw in these Sibyls a proto-Christian annunciation of the Saviour. It is a well-known fact that Lassus’s _Prophetiae Sibyllarum_ constitute undoubtedly one of the composer’s most enigmatic works. However, this is the very first account of the second version of the _Lectiones ex propheta Iob_ (ca 1582), one of the most outstanding motets of the composer’s maturity.Ensemble Daedalus
