Trio op. 10, Aquarelles op. 59, Deux Pièces en trio op. 95
Ensemble Joseph Jongen (Diane Andersen, Eliot Lawson, Mark Drobinsky)

FUG 518 - 1 CD

The discovery of Joseph Jongen is far from being complete. His chamber music, highly appreciated by first-rank musiciens in the first half of the past century, fully deserves the care of the outstanding ensemble that proudly bears the composers name since 2003. So, here are Diane Andersen, Eliot Lawson and Mark Drobinsky again at work, in the imposing piano trio, a landmark in Jongens early career and a score that can undoubtly be compared in quality and importance to Chaussons and Lekeus contemporary works; two ravishingly delicate Aquarelles (Watercolours) for violin and piano, dedicated to Eva Fairfax, once Rodins muse; and, finally, the Ravelian Two Pieces composed in the thirties. Un superb journey in Jongens catalogue, with first rate performers to guide us with elegancy and conviction.
