FUG 524 - 1 CD

With c. 500 recordings devoted to his work, the great Cuban composer, guitarist and conductor Leo Brouwer (1939), who lives in La Havana, can proudly look to an impressive panorama of achievements during half a century, that gave him the status of a star of a new era for the classical guitar. His works are both brilliant and poetical, thoughtful and spontaneous, never ceding to folkloric facility in his deep inspiration of the Cuban soul. Here is a beautiful selection of his work for guitar with accopaniment of orchestra or string quartet. Denis Sung-H, "Rising Star" of the European Concert Hall Organization (ECHO) in 2005-06, impresses by his rich personality. The attractive atmosphere of this recording seduced the composer himself, present in Brussels for the presentation of the CD; lets guess that many will consider this version of the "Concierto elegiaco" as a reference recording!
